Hidden Symbols

Hidden text and symbols are intrinsically interwoven in Native American design.

The extensive study of Native American geometry has shown it to be one of proportion and balance.

Anthropological evidence shows that this has been the case for thousands of years. It is no surprise, giving the intense spiritual nature of Native Americans, that all geometry starts with a simple circle, a symbol of completeness, that which makes one whole.

It is also of worthy note that this geometry has remained in tact through the generations and has never really been elaborated on or changed by creative whims. This is another indication of the depth of tradition and traditional values that Native Americans cherish as part of their heritage.

From these simple geometric symbols came staples of spirituality. More than just aesthetically pleasing decorations, the symbols and jewels used to embellish the utilitarian and ceremonial items have the following meanings:

The Hidden Meanings of Jewels

Alabaster – Believed to bring well being and awareness, alabaster was used as a stimulus for meditation.

Amethyst – Representing spirituality and contentment, amethyst is believed to bridge the gap between the spiritual and physical world, bringing emotional and intellectual harmony.

Fluorite – Believed to increase concentration, and help one see truth and reality by promoting discernment, fluorite brings order to ones life.

Garnet – Considered to extract negative energy and expand awareness, garnet is known as the stone of health. It is also an expression of warmth and love; having a calming power that instills a sense of stability.

Jade – Utilized to bring devotion and realization of ones potential, Jade is known as the dream stone. It instills a sense of confidence and purpose for one striving to reach their potential.

Jasper – Considered the supreme nurturer, jasper is inspiration to bring joy to others, and wards off negativity.

Labradorite –Promotes a clear and balanced aura, and is known as the temple of the stars, helping one understand their destiny. Symbolizing the sun and the moon, labradorite eliminates negative energy from unwanted spirits.

Lapis Lazuli – Believed to bring a deeper understanding of ancient and mystical knowledge, lapis lazuli brings to the surface that which is stored in the subconscious mind.
